| Introduction: This is a zombie based game. The death system is quite simple, if a zombie kills you, you become a zombie, if a human kills you, you go to your spawn location. When you die, you drop a quarter of the money you have on your char and all you items. (You can avoid losing the money by putting the cash in your ATM and the items by putting it in your bank or engraving it. Engraving will be explained later on in the tutorial.) There are several different items scattered throughout the game, you can go around search for better weapons/items. Controls: Arrow Keys or Numpad Arrows- Directional Movement F or Center key on Numpad (Numpad 5) - Attack R - Reload T - Take Y - Drop U - Use G - Step Right D - Step Left M - Mini Map E - Emote H - Honk while driving car J - Jump on low-level objects P - Pull objects W - Who's Online S - Speak to all those in view. SPACEBAR - Speak to all those in the world over OOC (Out of Character). Z, X, C, V, B - Used to execute the memorized skill or spell. Weapons and attacks: In this game, you will most likely be put in a position where you need to attack to survive and there are many ways to do so. Hand to hand: This is the most primitive, and inefficient way to attack, and should only be used as a last resort. Simple, press the F or center key on the Numpad (Numpad 5) with nothing equipped to attack directly in-front of you in the direction you're facing. You can also find items such as boxing gloves and claws to equip to increase your Hand to Hand combat. Melee weapons: There are several items scattered through D&W that you can use as a weapon (there are emergency axe cases in the wall at starting locations and throughout the map!). Some are stronger than other and there are some that are faster than others. Keep in mind some weapons are obviously stronger than others, while some are just about personal preference. Just simple pick up or purchase the weapon of your choice and equip it by clicking it in your inventory. Same as punching, press f or center key on the numpad to attack directly in front of you in the direction you're facing. You can sharpen a blade at NPC Shinjou, but there is a risk of the blade breaking. You can also use a scroll of sharpening. Max sharpen level is 10. Ranged weapons: These are the most difficult to find throughout the game and the most difficult to maintain, but can be the most efficient. Once you get a ranged weapon, just like real ranged weapons, you need ammo! No need to fret, they are cheap and dropped by zombies all the time. Some ammo you equip by clicking and some are equipped by right clicking and pressing use while the weapon is equipped. Ammo equipped is stored in the gun, not on the player. Press F or center key on numpad to attack in the direction you are facing. You can upgrade your ranged weapons at NPC shinjou, but it does cost money. Zombie attacks: Zombies can only use Hand to hand, but they gain 10 health for every hit they land on something or someone. There are certain spells a player can learn, then use when they are a zombie. Items: There are many items are they are all different. Some can be used by right clicking (like green herbs to heal) and others are equip able like weapons. Bank: You can speak to NPC Samantha to deposit items so that they are safe. You can withdraw your items from your bank at Samantha at any time. Money can be stored in the ATM machine and withdrawn at the ATM machine. Engraving items: If you have an item that you don't want people to steal if you are to die, you can engrave them at NPC Sergei. When an item is engraved, they drop like normal items, but they can only be picked up by you, so don't have to worry about people stealing them. During every reboot, ONLY if you are online, the items are returned to your bank. Be careful though, if youre engraved item is dropped somewhere and you ARE NOT ONLINE when a reboot occurs, your items will disappear forever. You can use a Call Scroll to call your items back to your bank if you would like them back but are unable to get to them. Engraving cost $800 per item. Purchasing Items: You can purchases weapons and items from several people. NPC Shinjou, NPC Andy, and NPC Scientist. Be careful though, that scientist is a weird character! Spells and Skills: Gaining spells and element importance: You can learn spells by speaking to NPC Jung, though it will not be cheap. When you create your character, you are given a default element, this will affect the power of spell of that element and is random. You can change your element at Jung, but it cost $40,000 and the change is also at random. To use a spell you drag them onto one of the slots located at the bottom left of the screen and press the key assigned to that slot. They can be held down and charged to increase the effect the spell or skill does. You can tell how much they are charged by the blue circle that appears over them, the bigger the circle the more it is charged. You can have 10 spells learned unless youre a subscriber, you can learn 12 spells. You can only have 5 equipped to hotkeys at a time though. Leveling spells: There are two ways to level spells. The most basic way is using the spell. Each use gives you exp in that spell and after enough exp the spell will level up. You can also find skill orbs that drop from zombies, or can be found around the map, however they often can be difficult to get. Leveling elements: There are two ways to level your element. The most basic way is using a spell that is in the elemental alignment. Also you can find Elemental orbs, Elemental orbs are dropped by zombies are fairly difficult to get. Some spells can only be used by Humans, some can only be used by Zombies, and some can be used by both. Gaining money: There are several ways to gain money, and they are: Rescuing survivors: There are survivors scattered throughout the game, you have to rescue them by standing next to them, right clicking and selecting rescue. They will follow you and your job is to bring them to the rescue point, which you can find on your map. If an area is dangerous and you want to clear it first, you can tell your survivor to wait by right-clicking them and selecting wait. The rescue point is usually heavily guarded, but can become overran by zombies, so be careful. Subscribers may have survivors get in their car with them. Killing Zombies: Zombies have a chance of dropping money when they are killed. This is a somewhat slow and dangerous way. Also can be one of the most fun ways once you have your skill/spells leveled, and have proper equipment on. Jobs: You can speak to NPC Arnold to get a job. Jobs consist of a certain number of a specific mob to kill. Just complete the job and you will be paid according to the difficulty. At set levels of jobs, 25, 50, 75, and 100 jobs completed, you will gain valuable rare items. Selling things: There are several things you can sell. You can sell fish at NPC Ash or NPC Kuma. Kuma is harder to find, but he pays more. You can also sell wood and food at NPC Jack. Auctioning items: You can auction items in your inventory by right clicking the item and selecting auction. Like an auction, if there are no bidders it does not sell, and the highest bidder wins. You can bid on items in your Commands tab, command bid. Cars: There are cars everywhere, some are more durable then others, and some are faster. You can buy a car at Keller motors. Using cars: You get in a car by standing next to it, and press "Get in" in the car tab or right clicking and going to Get in. To get out, you press "Get out" You can go in reverse if need by pressing "Reverse" or the center key on the numpad. You can honk also. There are benefits to using cars, first of all you can run over zombies. (Some of them will take a little bit to run over) Also you can get to your destination faster. Be careful though, hitting walls damages your car and they can be difficult to drive. Subscribers can carry passengers and survivors with them. Furniture: Doors: An open door is a way of welcoming the undead into your home so keep those doors closed. Be aware, however, that there may have been others who raced through a doorway before you, locking the door behind them. Keep a lock pick on hand for cases such as this where the only thing keeping you from reaching safety and or being left for certain death is a key card or a lock pick. You simply left-click a door to open or close it, and you can right-click a door and select lock to lock the door, but only from one side of the door. Doors can take damage if you stand too close to them and be broken down. But with a piece of wood and a hammer you can board up the door again. Barricades: When doors are not enough, one must find whatever they can to push or pull and block off a potential entry way for the undead. Be aware that the walking dead will claw or bash their way through by all means possible to reach the living. No object is strong enough to withstand the constant wailing of hundreds of undead fists. You can build a table with a hammer equipped and using wood as material. Windows: Windows are easily broken unless window shields are on, when they are on, the windows that aren't broken are indestructible. In the event that a window is broken, you can board it up. Simple equip a hammer and right click the window for the option to board it up, you will need wood for materials. The boarding can break eventually. Homes: Pricing: Homes come in two prices, $5,000 and $20,000. One is obviously bigger than the other. You can buy one by going into the housing neighborhood, and attempting to enter an empty house. It will give you the option to purchase it. If the house is not empty it will tell you who the owner is. You can only own one home at a time. Benefits: This is a safe place, zombies and uninvited people cannot enter. This is the only place where you can drop items and they will stay there even after a reboot. Also, you need a home to betray humanity, which I will explain later. You may purchase furniture and other decorations through the NPC Sarah. You can lay tiles on the ground by purchasing a package of tiles which comes with 25 tiles of the decoration of your choosing. If you would like to place a tile under an object that you cannot stand on, simply equip a hammer and right click on the tile and you will have the option to move it. Betraying Humanity: When you feel you need player kills, or if you just want to fight other humans, you can betray humanity. When you betray humanity, everyone is your enemy, humans, zombies, and NPCs. This is when you can do the most harm, but this is when you are the most vulnerable since players might try to kill you. You need to own a house to betray Humanity. A player that is betraying humanity can attack ANY player in the game, whether they are betraying humanity or not. You can tell who is betraying humanity by if they have a Skull and cross bone icon over their character. Be aware of players betraying humanity, often they have no remorse and will kill you for no reason. Rares: There are two types of rares: Droppable rares: These are VERY hard to come by, thus the name rare. There is a very small chance of a zombie to drop these when they are killed, but bosses have a 25% chance of dropping these. Job rares: Once you complete a job a certain amount of times, you are rewarded with a rare. Simple as that. Clans: Clans cost 50,000 gold for subscribers to make and 100,000 gold for non-subscribers. You can make a clan by finding the NPC Kuma (he is a giant bear) located through the snake and scorpion tunnel. Its not a safe journey by any means to get to him, so be careful. You can talk to Kuma to create your clan, and once your clan is created, all your clan options can be accessed through Kuma. Your clan strength his determined by the number of player kills each player has, and the amount of money is stored in your clan treasury. Other clan members may talk to Kuma to worship by giving gold to the clan treasury. Clans may dictate allies and enemies with other clans and can attack any other clan that is not a ally. Crafts: There are 2 main forms of crafting in D&W, fishing, and cooking. Fishing: You can fish by finding or buying a fishing pole from NPC ash. You can buy bait from ash to attach to you pole to increase your chance at catching fish. To fish equip your pole, and/or bait, and click on some water. You will cast out your line, and then have a chance to catch a fish. You even have a chance to catch valuable Rares, although it is a very small chance. The higher youre fishing skill, the better your bait, and the better your fishing rod is the more bigger your fish you can catch. Bigger fish means more money when selling them. Cooking: You can cook fish that you catch. To cook a fish you need a frying pan and a fire. You can purchase a frying pan, or find one throughout the map. You must equip the frying pan to cook. A fire can be made by rubbing two sticks together, found from Shaking a tree. To shake a tree simply right click on it and select shake. Trees have a chance of dropping sticks or apples. You can also use a stove, purchased from NPC Sarah to cook on. There is a chance that you may burn the food you cook, so the higher your skill, the less the food burns. You can season your food before you cook it with seasonings, giving you a higher value of food, and increasing the amount of exp you get when successfully cooking food. There is one more thing you can play around with and that is Chicken farming. To chicken farm it is recommended you own a house. You can buy chicken coops and chicken incubators from NPC Sarah. Incubators will hatch your chicken eggs, and you can put the chicken into the coop and it will produce eggs. There are multiple levels of chickens going in value from White, Brown, Black, and Gold. Colored chickens lay their color eggs, with a chance to lay the next in value color of egg. Although keep in mind, as the value of the egg goes up, the chance of it hatching decreases. Subscribing: Subscribing only cost $5 US dollars and last a lifetime. Subscribers get numerous perks. This is a list just to describe some of them: $40,000 in-game cash, Increased Combat Arts, Increased Spell Arts, Increased Skill Arts, Increased Survivor Rewards, Reduced Upgrade Prices, Reduced Sharpening Prices, Additional Items, Additional Skills, and more! There are many more things you will discover in the World of the Dead and Walking, so do some exploring and have fun! Look for secret passages and hidden treasures. The game is constantly updating so be on the look-out for new fun and exciting features! |
